Research Coordinator NCCMT, McMaster University
 
McMaster University's School of Nursing National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools (NCCMT) (www.nccmt.ca) is recruiting for a Bilingual (French and English) Research Coordinator for a one year contract.
 
The Research Coordinator will provide specialized knowledge and skills to initiate, design, develop, coordinate and manage a range of research projects and knowledge translation activities undertaken by the National Collaborating Centre for Methods and Tools. The individual must be able to work in a fluid environment, recognize which knowledge base and/or skills are required for different situations (and be able to apply such knowledge/skills), and manage multiple and sometimes competing priorities.
 
Key responsibilities include:

-developing project protocols and timelines; designing, testing and utilizing data collection tools (and tracking systems) for key informant interviews, surveys and archival reviews;
-entering, collating and analyzing data using SPSS, NVivo, Distiller and other relevant analytic software packages;
-participating in the development and delivery of skills training workshops for public health professionals and decision makers;
-interpreting data and outputs of analysis; assisting with the preparation of academic publications and other reports by writing up sections and contributing intellectually to the development of manuscripts;
-fulfilling a resource role for NCCMT staff in relation to the preparation of ethics review materials, preparation and collating of grant proposals, and
-completion of CV modules required for grant submissions; and, identifying research funding opportunities.
 
The successful candidate will be fluently bilingual in French and English (verbal and written), have a Master's degree in health sciences, public health or a related field with 3+ years experience in a public health environment with quantitative and qualitative research methods.
 
Experience, skills and competencies required include:

-advanced critical appraisal skills; expertise in SPSS, NVivo, Distiller and MS Office software;
-an understanding of knowledge transfer and exchange methods;
-excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication and presentation skills;
-an understanding of the public health environment; experience working within research and government environments; and,
-a strong ability to work independently and also collaborate well with team members.
